George P. Halteman, 75

George Perry “Perk” Halteman, age 75, of Mt. Olive, died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Halteman was born on March 6, 1949, in Springfield, to the late John Quince and Norma June Slightom Halteman. He married Arlene Gerdes in 1969, and they later divorced. Later, he married Kim Sellander, and she survives.
He joined the Army and served two years in Alaska. He was a laborer and belonged to the Local 338 Laborers Union for 20 years and also the Local 520 Operators Union. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bow hunting, deer hunting, fishing and duck hunting and always had a story to tell in addition to being a 30 year member of the Gillespie Bass Club.
Mr. Halteman is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Mary Jo (Jeremy) of Farmersville and Amy (Jake) Davidson of Palmetto, FL, siblings; Carol (Dave) Matheson of Springfield, Bob (Janice) Halteman of The Villages, FL, Rita (Les) Kingery of Ward, AR, Nate (Vicki) Halteman of Carlinville and Mary Ann (Ron) Drennan of Springfield; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Q Halteman.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Mr. Halteman’s service, the family requests donations be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
