Harriet Romain Grimes, 94, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, in Litchfield, under the care of Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Dexheimer officiating.
Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mount Olive is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Grimes was born on May 21, 1929, in Litchfield, to the late James and Corita (Johnson) Goodman. After high school, she worked at Scheer Truck Stop on Route 66 as a waitress. There, she met August “Tuney” Steinbach. They married on Jan. 6, 1951 and they lived in Mt. Olive. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1977. She would marry Richard Grimes on April 24, 1982. The couple loved to travel and were members of the White City Motorcycle Club. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2019.
Mrs. Grimes was a lifelong member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by a brother, Roger (Carol) Goodman; two sisters-in-law, Verna Goodman and Susan Goodman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her son, Michael Steinbach; and three brothers, James Goodman, John Goodman and Steve Goodman; and one sister, Marilyn Goodman.
Memorials are suggested to Mount Olive Methodist Church.
