May Parnell, 90, of Litchfield, died Monday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parnell will be held Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  The Rev. Gary Schwab will officiate, and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mrs. Parnell was born July 18, 1933, in Liverpool, England, a daughter of John and Mary Ann (Evans) Scoullar.  She served with the British Army during the Cold War era from 1951 to 1955.  She met her husband, Walter Rexford Parnell, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force, and they were married April 21, 1956 in Oxford, England. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2002. 

Mrs. Parnell was employed for several years at the former Litchfield Floral.  Upon the closing of the floral shop, she worked for Litchfield True-Value Hardware.  Upon retiring, she did volunteer work, mainly at Hearts United in Litchfield. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the boat and bowling. 

Mrs. Parnell is survived by her daughter Carol (Scott) Schroeder of Litchfield and sons Robert (Connie) Parnell of Marion, IA, and Michael Parnell of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; Kevin (Mandy Moore) Schroeder, Eric (Jenelle) Schroeder, Breanne (Eric) Schnable, Tiffany (Mike) Guerriei, Alexis (Dean) Pieper, Cory Parnell, Courtney (Rob) Urnstron and Alec Parnell; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cayden, Quinn, Peyton, Ruby, Darcy, Anna Marie, Sutton, Remie, Hendrix, Maddox, Sunny, Luke, Murphy and Henry;  and siblings John Scoullar and Dororthy Jenion of the United Kingdom.

In addition to her husband, Walter, she is preceded in death by her parents, and step-mother Dorothy Jenion.
