Rita Marie Durston, age 87, of Springfield, died at her home on April 25, 2024.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Masha Funnerman officiating.
Mrs. Durston was born the daughter of the late Dan and Irene Marie Kurfiss Waterman in Taylorville on Feb. 2, 1937. She married Lewis H. Durston on Nov. 4, 1954 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1981. She had worked at Franklin Life until she retired, and was the tax assessor for Bois D’Arc Township for many years.
Mrs. Durston is survived by her son Lewis Ray (Barb) Durston of Waggoner; three grand children; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean Waterman of Litchfield; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Rieman; and brothers, Dan Waterman Jr. and Jim Waterman.
Memorials in Mrs. Durston’s honor maybe given to the Asbury Cemetery or Parkway Christian Church 2700 Lindergh Blvd, Springfield, IL 62704.
