Harold Dean Wallace, 73, of Oconee, formerly of Herrick, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at 8:21 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 26, at Oconee Mound in Oconee. Wallace-Carroll Funeral Home in Herrick was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallace was born on Sept. 20 1942, in Herrick, the son of the late Harold William and Leona Lucille (Newcombe) Wallace. He married Roberta J. Cole in Woodstock, GA, on Dec. 6, 1986, and she survives in Oconee.
He grew up in Herrick with his large family and worked as an operating engineer for the Local 965 in Springfield. He was very involved in his community through his memberships such as the Oconee Lions Club and Oconee Mini Mart Coffee Clan.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wallace is survived by his daughter, Brenda (husband Rocky) Kramer of Herrick; son, Brent (wife Wendy) Wallace of Herrick; stepdaughters, Tammy (husband Dan)Deere of Tower Hill and Tracy (husband Mark) Craig of Nokomis; sisters, Annamarie Isabel of Ramsey, Wanda McHaffey of Cowden and Evelyn (husband Roger) Foster of Tower Hill; brothers, Harlen (wife Carol) Wallace and Howard (wife Sandy) Wallace, both of Herrick; grandchildren, Ashley Deere of Tower Hill, Josie Wallace of Shumway, Quinton Wallace of Herrick, Hallie Wallace of Beecher City, Trystan Stevens of St. Charles MO, Tyson Craig of Nokomis, Brandy (husband Jake) Logue of Shelbyville and Austin Kramer of Cowden; and six great- grandchildren.
